MOORS VALLEY COUNTRY PARK

There’s always plenty to do at Moors Valley Country Park with an adventure play trail and play parks, narrow gauge steam railway, woodland walks, treetop walkway and more. If that’s not enough then the children can also enjoy activities on selected dates like archery, fishing, 4x4 mini Landrover adventures, torchlight safari, orienteering and Ranger Den activities.

DORSET SUNFLOWER TRAIL - NR DORCHESTER

Take a relaxing stroll through the beautiful sunflower trail which is estimated to take around 40 minutes to complete however a second shorter trail will be available with accessibility in mind.

Enjoy a drink and a cake from the Café or bring a picnic and enjoy the stunning views of Maiden Castle. For the 2022 Trail, half of the profits from the Sunflower Trail will be donated to the Kingfisher Children’s Ward at Dorset County Hospital Charity and Cherkasy Hospital, Ukraine.

TANK MUSEUM - BOVINGTON

GIANT MAIZE MAZE - SHERBORNE

The Giant Maize Maze at Blackmarsh Farm is in the shape of a tractor and is open throughout summer holidays.  There will be an anagram to solve along the way and a Guess What game all about vintage farming equipment. A former Georgian workhouse, the Red House is now a museum exploring the story of Christchurch.  During the holidays children can take part in a variety of craft workshops plus a Squidge and Pop Bubble Workshop or garden party with stalls and entertainment.  Entry to the museum is free however there may be a small charge for events.

BOURNEMOUTH COMMONWEALTH GAMES

There are Commonwealth trails at 5 different sites around the town and each trail is between 1.2 - 1.6km long.  They are available at Slades Park, Queens Park, Kings Park, Littledown and Boscombe Chine.  Trails are free and you will need a trail sheet and map for each site which can be collected from each venue in paper form or downloaded from the website below.

STOUR VALLEY NATURE RESERVE - BOURNEMOUTH

SUMMER BUTTERFLY TRAIL

The trail runs throughout the summer holidays.  Collect your trail sheets from the Visitor Centre, find out the answers and complete the drawing along the trail and then head back to the visitor centre to collect your prize.  £3 per trail sheet.

POOLE MUSEUM AND SCAPLENS COURT

Entry to the museum is free and there’s child friendly activities running through the holidays which include family storytelling and a fun detective trail.

At Scaplen’s Court which is located close by you can step back in time with free historically themed activities every Tuesday in August.
