If you have a pre schooler at home who loves being creative then I recommend you take a look at Mini Makes and Bakes classes.  The lovely ladies from Made By Me Craft Parties and Biscuits by Sarah B have joined forces to bring thier little guests an hour full of fun and art.

We started with a 30 minute session which was run by Sarah and as the theme for our session was woodland creatures we had the task of decorating a squirrel, a hedgehog and an owl.  The children were given a round biscuit to start with and we were shown how to use the tubes and piping bags before they had a go themselves.  The children were then encouraged to eat their biscuit while Sarah showed us some techniques for creating the feathers and features on the woodland animals.

My daughter Lucy was feeling incredibly shy and although she had a go with the piping bags she wanted mummy to help.  I did as Sarah had showed us and ran a line around the edge and then Lucy helped me splodge more icing in the middle and spread it around.  We used tools and cocktail sticks with another colour icing to create some lines and then Lucy delicately placed some sprinkles on top.  Now I know that they don’t quite look like Sarah’s professional one’s but I was still pretty proud of our efforts.

When we finished decorating the biscuits we popped them in the box and went next door to start our crafts.  Sticking with the woodland theme, Lexi had animal masks on the table and the children were invited to colour them in with crayons and stick feathers and gems to it.  We were then told we were going to make a woodland wishing stick which little Lucy has carried around non stop since the class.  Lexi showed us all how to put a tinkly bell on a coloured pipe cleaner and then this would be wrapped around the end of the stick.  We were also given more coloured pipe cleaners, leafs, feathers and lots of brightly coloured ribbons which could be attached to make it perfect for wishing.

A little about Lexi and Sarah:

Lexi is the owner of Made By Me Craft Parties and she simply loves to create special craft parties for children, teens and adults which include birthdays, hen parties and baby showers.  She has tons of great ideas, materials to use, themes and activities so she’ll cater for any requests.  For more information, please visit Made By Me Parties.

Sarah from Biscuits by Sarah B has a real talent for turning her delicious homemade biscuits into little works of art.  She can cater for any occasion and also runs biscuit decorating parties and adult workshops.  For more information, please visit Biscuits by Sarah B.  PS, if you are wondering if they taste good then the answer is YES!  My daughter very kindly gave me her iced hedgehog and her brother was allowed to devour the owl.  All got top marks for yumminess.

I can thoroughly recommend these popular classes in East Dorset.  Both ladies running the class and incredibly friendly and enthusiastic and the children will really enjoy their session.

For upcoming dates and venues, please take a look at the Mini Makes and Bakes Facebook page or visit Made By Me Craft Parties to book.
