  1. This February half term, everyone's favourite pocket monsters are coming to the Museum of East Dorset (MED)!

As you wind your way around the Museum trail, you'll learn all sorts of things about the wonderful world of Pokémon and their special powers, as well as the chance to try fun activities including designing your very own Pokémon.  The museum house is full to the brim of a host of crazy creatures from the hit series of these famous 1990’s video games.

This special half-term trail is in tandem with the museum’s current’ I Grew Up 90s’ exhibition, recently featured in The Telegraph newspaper.  Immerse yourself in some serious 90’s nostalgia as the era of Britpop and Cool Britannia blasts into Wimborne.

Mums and dads who grew up in the 90’s - bring your children to show them a snapshot of what your own childhood was all about.  There’s also dressing up fun, an arcade game and 90’s toys to play with.  Don't miss the genuine '90s Pikachu plushi!

So get out there and find some Pokémon - and good luck in catching 'em all!

  2. Richard O’Brians Rocky Horror Show is up there with one of THE most memorable shows I’ve ever seen!  The cult classic is brilliantly bonkers from start to finish and the only times I stopped smiling was when I laughed out loud or gasped at the naughty bits.

I was vaguely aware of the story line but definitely wasn’t prepared for the dazzling experience that unfolded.  Newly engaged college kids, Brad and Janet, break down in their car and head to a nearby creepy mansion to ask for help.  Little do they know that it’s home to mad transvestite scientist, Dr Frank-N-Furter!  They soon embark on a crazy adventure they’ll never forget with non-stop fun and frolics.

The Rocky Horror Show features timeless classics, including Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and of course, the showstopping Time Warp.

The whole cast have the most incredible voices and the set was a masterpiece with the stage changing throughout.  One minute you were in the mansion lobby and the next you’d be in the laboratory watching the Dr create his perfect hunk of a man!  I loved the narrator who appeared between scenes, his quick wit and clever replies to heckles are part of the show and often have hilarious consequences.

Dressing up is thoroughly encouraged and I promise you won’t be alone.  We saw some magnificent outfits in the audience, from full on suspenders and corsets to lab coats and rubber gloves!  And if you want to join in with the Time Warp, you’ll have your opportunity at the finale when the theatre erupts.

I'd 100% recommend seeing the Rocky Horror Show if you want a night to remember!  I’m not going to go into too much detail in case you’re a Rocky Horror virgin who likes surprises.

The legendary rock 'n' roll musical now celebrates 50 years of non-stop partying.  It’s the longest continuous run of a contemporary musical anywhere in the world.  The show has been seen by over 30 million people and continues to delight audiences on its sell-out international tour.

Richard O’Brians Rocky Horror Show is on in Bournemouth from Monday 3rd - Saturday 8th February 2025.  For more information and tickets, please visit the Bournemouth Pavilion.
