On 8th May 2025, we mark the historic 80th Anniversary of VE Day, with the peoples, families and communities of our great nation coming together to unite and celebrate 80 years of peace since the end of World War II in Europe that so many millions paid the ultimate sacrificed to achieve it.

VE Day 80 is not only a tribute to those who fought for the freedom we all enjoy today, but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that have defined our country ever since.

BLANDFORD FORM VE DAY 80TH ANNIVERSAY

Info: During the day there will be a short Proclamation ceremony and the piper, Lyndon Wall, will be playing in the Market Place before processing up to Legion House for the start of the event.  The event will be opened by the Mayor and will feature the Town Crier reading the VE Day Proclamation and the raising of the VE Day flag.  From 7.30pm, enjoy refreshments and the opportunity to explore the Blandford Commemoration Group's VE Day exhibition in the pavilion whilst listening to music played by the Blandford Stour Valley Band.  The evening will culminate with the lighting of the Woodhouse Gardens beacon at 9.30pm.
