A Family Visit to Wimborne Model Town
Posted on
Wimborne Model Town is a wonderful family friendly attraction which appeals to all ages but the best bit is that your day pass turns into an annual pass which means you can visit again and again for a whole year!

We've visited a few times over the years and the kids have always really enjoyed wandering through the streets looking into the teeny tiny windows of the shops. Their favourite through is looking through Wimborne Minster because you can see Mass taking place! The attention to detail is incredible and it's clear to see that lots of love and hours have gone into making it as accurate as possible.

There's also a lovely little play area with a climbing frame, slide, play train and little cabins which are perfect for a pretend cup of tea. We also enjoyed a round of crazy golf in the Bumble Bee Garden which you can play for a small fee*. I’ve decided to give up on crazy golf though until the children are older because they always cheat!

I personally enjoy looking in the gardens as they are really well kept and so there’s so many pretty flowers grown there. It’s so peaceful that I often think that one day I’ll go while the kids are at school so I can sit in the corner with a good book.

The Wareham Bears were originally displayed by Mary Hildesley in Wareham during the 1980s but they now reside at the Model Village. The miniature bears are arranged in playful, detailed scenes depicting everyday activities.
There’s also a 1950’s school and shop located in the Lady Hanham Building. You’ll see desks, blackboard and books, plus you can find out what you could buy in 1950’s Wimborne shops.
The Model Railway is very interesting for all train lovers. Built and developed by a team of dedicated volunteers, the multi-track layout runs with motion sensor controls and features main line, branch line and underground line running.

Lastly, a visit to The Tearoom is a must. The menu offers breakfasts, hot lunches, sandwiches, kids meals and delicious cakes. And if the children have been well behaved then you’ll find affordable pocket money toys in the gift shop.
For more information and a list of upcoming events, please visit Wimborne Model Town.
*Crazy golf is priced at £2pp. Pay and collect your clubs and balls in the shop.
